Acer is keen on making its presence felt in the Ultrabook space. The company is all set to launch not one, but two ultrabooks in the coming months. We have already seen some hands on photos of the 13 inch model. And now more details have arrived.
It looks like the laptop will be called Acer Ultrabook S3. It will reportedly have a 13.3 inch display, Intel Core i5-2476M processor, 4GB of RAM and 320GB hard drive. It will measure 0.5 inches in thickness. The laptop will have a suggested retail price of 786.19 Euros. It should be cheaper when it makes its debut in the US.
Acer, reportedly, will also launch an 11 inch ultrabook. It will be part of the company's Aspire S series. More details should be available when the IFA trade show kicks off in Berlin in a few days.

An ultrabook is an emerging category of ultrathin laptops with good hardware. The Aspire S3 measures less than half and an inch in thickness and weighs about 3 pounds. Acer says that it will get up to 7 hours of battery life and a standby time of up to 50 hours.
The Acer Aspire S3 will be available with a choice of Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors and a choice of 240GB of SSD or 320GB / 500GB of hard drive with an embedded SSD which will reportedly improve performance. ACER ASPIRE S3 HITS FCC
The Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook has hit the FCC. The laptop is due out this fall. The Ultrabook is a new category of ultrathin and light laptops that measure less than an inch in thickness and weigh under 3 pounds. Unlike netbooks, Ultrabooks have Intel’s latest processors and price tags hovering around $1000.
The Aspire S3 is the first Ultrabook from Acer. The FCC application for the laptop doesn’t reveal a lot of details, but one thing is certain now. The laptop will have a 36.4Whr, 3280mAh battery which isn’t user replaceable. That means you will have to send the laptop for repair if you want to replace the battery.

ACER ASPIRE ONE 722 GETS AMD C-60 APU
The Acer Aspire One 722 has got a specs bump. While the original model was more of a netbook, this recent upgrade makes it an ultraportable.
The 11.6 inch laptop now features the new AMD C-60 dual core Fusion processor, up to 4GB of RAM and up to 500GB of hard drive space. The original model had 1GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive.
Two models are currently available from Best Buy - one with 2GB of RAM / 320GB hard drive and another with 4GB of RAM / a 500GB hard drive. Both models run Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.
The AMD C-60 is faster than the AMD C-50. It also supports the Turbo Mode which allows the CPU to run between the standard 1GHz and maximal 1.33GHz. The AMD C-60 also comes bundled with the integrated Radeon graphics which supports 1080p HD video playback.
The Acer Aspire One AO722 has a starting price of $345.
ACER AC700 CHROMEBOOK NOW AVAILABLE FOR $300
When the Acer Chromebook launched this summer it sported a $350 price tag. Although that didn’t quite make it pricey, at that price point, it was still costlier than a typical netbook. Now Acer has dropped the price of the laptop. The Acer AC700 Chromebook is now available from Amazon for $299.99.
The ChromeBook runs the Google Chrome operating system. It has just 16GB of storage and that is hardly surprising. The device is designed to run web-based applications such as Gmail and Google Docs. That means most of your data is stored online. A ChromeBook is practically useless when you are not connected to the internet. However, you can cache documents for offline access. You may also store music or photos. The Acer AC700 has an 11.6 inch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. It is powered by a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N570 dual core processor and 2GB of DDR3 memory. While it is larger than a typical netbook, it offers less functionality. The fact is that all laptops running Windows, Linux or OS X are capable of running all web-based apps just like a ChromeBook. A Chromebook, on the other hand, can’t do a lot of things that a typical laptop can. It can’t, for instance, run desktop apps. Needless to say demand for the device has been low.
PRODUCT PAGES FOR ACER ASPIRE ONE D270 GO LIVE
Acer hasn’t yet officially announced a netbook with an Intel Cedar Trail Atom processor, but the fact that the company is building one is kind of certain. Every major PC maker out there is building netbooks with Intel’s newest Atom processors and Acer can be no different.
Anyway, several retailers have already posted product pages for Acer’s upcoming netbook. According to Notebook Italia, the Acer Aspire One D270 has a 10.1 inch display and 1.6GHz Intel Atom N2600 dual core processor. This processor belongs to the Cedar Trail platform.
The netbook runs Windows 7 Starter Edition and will be available with a choice of 3 or 6 cell batteries. The netbook also appears to have 1GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive.
The laptop is expected to hit the streets in January for around $280. We should soon find out as the CES is merely a few days away.
The Cedar Trail Atom processors aren’t expected to deliver significantly better performance than the current Pine Trail processors. They just happen to consume less energy. You might also notice a minor improvement in performance.
